The winter weather is slowly sneaking up on us here in Australia. It is kind of funny considering we left the endless cold in Norway for everlasting sunshine in Sydney. But, seasons come and seasons go wherever you are in the world. Fortunately, Alexandra and I planned a tropical get-away to Cairns with Accor Hotels. In four days we experienced the Great Barrier Reef, sailed in tropical North Queensland, hiked in the rain forest and cuddled with koalas! This trip was one for the books.
Have a look at some snap shots from our grams, xx.
۞ Day One Highlights ۞
The first day in North Queensland was pretty packed. As if we were not worried enough to arrive in time at the airport for our Jetstar flight to depart at 6 am, we also pulled an all-nighter. The day started with a yummy lunch at the hotel before visiting Pullman Reef Hotel Casino’s own wildlife dome. How many hotels can say they have their own rainforest inside their hotel? Here we went zip-lining, and cuddled a koala before we spent the rest of the day on a magical secluded sand cay. To top it off, we went on a helicopter ride over the Great Barrier Reef.
۞ Day Two Highlights ۞
Dreamtime walks in the tropical rain forest at Mossman Gorge. Here we received a guided tour around the rainforest by an aboriginal, was part of a smoking ritual and learned a bit of the language. Later in the evening, we checked into the Pullman Sea Temple Resort in Port Douglas. For lunch we had a delicious seafood feast and ended the day with relaxing spa treatments and cocktails by the pool.
۞ Day Three Highlights ۞
A fun day exploring Low Isles on Sailaway Port Douglas sailing boat. The best part was sunbathing and snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef amongst colorful fishes.
۞ Day Four Highlights ۞
The Reef House Palm Cove is the definition of home. Our last day was spent chilling with cocktails by the pool, sunbathing in the hammock and bike around the beautiful coastline of Palm Cove.
Thank you, Accor Hotels & Tropical North Queensland for a fun Wintervention trip and the unforgettable memories!
Stay tuned for the next one x
